The HopBarn is extremely excited to be able to host Joss Arnott Dance Company from Monday 7th November whilst they prepare for their forthcoming tour. The Company is preparing a triple bill of work and features 'Wide Awakening' a collaboration with Grammy Award winning percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie alongside composer James Keane. This thunderous score promises to bring a dramatic climax to the performance bill. The company is celebrating its 5th year, whilst Evelyn Glennie is celebrating her 50th so there is a promise of a 'high-octane and adrenaline-fuelled evening of dance and live music'.
Joss Arnott has attracted much attention recently in the dance world. Having performed and toured internationally with choreographers Cameron McMillan, Colin Poole, Tom Dale, Matthias Sperling, Yael Flexer, as well as performing at London's Barbican Theatre in an installation for the Merce Cunningham Company; Joss has recently worked with Rambert Dance Company as part of a choreographic commission in partnership with The Lowry, Salford Quays.
The current work entitled 5|0 is a co-commission between Blackpool Grand, DanceEast, Swindon Dance, Pavilion Dance, South East Dance, CAST and developed with Dance City. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England and PRS for Music Foundation.
In addition to creating professional work, Joss is also passionate about teaching and nurturing the next generation of young dancers and choreographers. Further to creating work with professional dancers and companies, he has also worked extensively with students from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, London Contemporary Dance School, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and Laban as well as a number of the Centre's for Advanced Training Schemes (CATs).
If you get a chance to see the company live, The HopBarn certainly recommends such a given opportunity.
