The Offer:
One Weeks Residency at The HopBarn, Southwell, Notts from Monday 18th to Saturday 23rd September 2017
Technical Support and Guidance from experienced music engineer

Support and guidance from Derby Theatre’s In Good Company – Professional Artists Programme and The Hopbarn.
Background:
In Good Company (IGC), the professional development programme for artists making work in the East Midlands, presents a unique opportunity for theatre makers and musicians.
Working at The HopBarn, Centre for Music & Creative Performance, IGC is offering a week’s residency during September 2017 in order to explore and develop theatre that seeks to embed music into the main body of the work.
Supported by an experienced Music Engineer and with access to an array of musical instruments and technical equipment, the successful applicant and/or company will spend a full-week, working and residing at The HopBarn (without interruption) in order to develop and explore their proposed ideas.
The Offer:
1-weeks free rehearsal space at The HopBarn working in the main studio (11m x 7.5m)
Onsite accommodation for the resident company
Full technical support with an experienced Music Engineer
Support and guidance from IGC and The HopBarn
Artist and Company members will be required to arrange their own per-diems
Submission Criteria
New and original performance work that features a strong music element within the main body of the performance concept
Work that is in development, at any stage, but has not been performed previously
Artists and groups who are able to demonstrate some experience of working with music in their work, or can demonstrate that it is integral to future development
Demonstrate consideration for the future legacy of the work, how it might be further explored and developed, and potential performance opportunities
What we are looking for:
Work that has a unique vision in incorporating music in order to create an original piece of theatre
Is realistic in its approach and methodology of creation
Clear and concise ideas towards how the week will be utilised and how the artists/groups will ensure the proposed submission will be realized
Desired:
Artists or groups living and/or working in the East Midlands

Information on The HopBarn
The HopBarn provides a unique venue for music and the performing arts. Situated on a working farm in rural Nottinghamshire, The HopBarn is a redevelopment of a group of 18th Century agricultural buildings into a purpose developed centre for music, theatre and dance. Working with regional partners, companies and artists, The HopBarn seeks to create opportunities in supporting and nurturing new and emerging artistic practice.
Information on In Good Company (IGC)
Born out of consultation with our community of artists, In Good Company is the professional development programme for artists making work in the East Midlands. It launched in July 2014 and is now a multi-venue partnership delivered by Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre, Mansfield venues, Lincolsnhire One Venues and Burton Brewhouse.
